Everyone has someone to answer to, as do insurance companies. Finding the top auto insurers is very easy to do, especially with the help of the Internet and all the online insurance websites. People who have had trouble or are dissatisfied with the services of their insurers or their broker have a place to submit their complaints which will be seen and judged by other potential clients.

These complaints are registered in special departments of each state, as insurance happens to be governed by state law. Therefore, all complaints registered against any insurance body will be listed there. This will simplify your quest to find the top auto insurers, because the top rated insurance companies will have the fewest complaints listed against them. A few complaints against the particular company may be just simply some disgruntled clients who were unhappy with the turnout of their own situation.

Others who have numerous complaints listed, especially about the same issue, should probably be avoided. The truth is, you would like to avoid working with an insurance company who is more than happy to take your premiums, but delays your repairs or payments in the event of a claim. Experiencing an accident or being the victim of vandalism can be frightening and frustrating enough, without having to deal with a less than satisfactory service from the part of your insurer.

With that said, you can find the top auto insurers by entering that key phrase in your search bar of your browser. An entire list will be populated from the search engine of your choice. However, the first in the list is not necessarily the best. Finding the best is completely up to you.

That means that you will have to delve further into your research and find all the complaints listed against this insurer. But don’t stop there. You must find all the positive points and compare the quotations regarding the premiums against other top rated insurers.

If you go further by asking friends, family and other acquaintances. If they have ever used or heard of any positive or negative traits that that particular insurer may have. You’d be surprised as to how many people have both good and bad stories regarding insurance companies, premiums, services rendered, and the like. Just as quickly as people would like to share with their sad story, others would like to share their knowledge about how well they were treated in their own situation.

By: Felix Fassbinder

I wanted to break down the main parts of car insurance for you to understand what each are and why you have to pay so much for each part. The three main parts are liability, collision, and comprehension. This article is about comprehension car insurance.

This portion of your insurance covers damages caused by break-ins, theft, hail storms, tree limbs, vandalism and fire. One hail storm could total out your car due to the cost of popping out all the dents. Not sure if you’ve been through that before, but I have, and it was very expensive. Also, a friend of mine, just this week, got their back window shot out of their van. Doesn’t sound so bad, but it was vandalism with a pellet gun. The glass replacement was $700 and they had a deductible of $500. You do the math. Ouch.

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to have comprehension insurance. If you have an older car that isn’t worth much, then you’d be better off to save the money towards a new car or just save it to pay for any damages that may occur. You have to look at the cost of comprehension insurance and the value of the vehicle. I know some people want it no matter how old or junky their car is. But why pay for hail damage and radio theft if your old car doesn’t have a radio. Besides, if you have an old car, the radio is probably old, too.

But when you go and buy a new or newer car, having full coverage makes sense. Finding old junkyard parts on a new car is quite difficult and if you find the part, they are rare – hence – expensive. Now, most people have comprehension insurance because the bank or finance company requires this coverage. If you finance a car, then they make you pay for full coverage insurance. Not fair? But think about Mr. Banker for a moment. You have to carry insurance and keep the car in good shape so it can be sold in case you don’t pay for it. So if you don’t have insurance on your new Dodge Ram, and a hail storm comes and instantly depreciates out your truck by $6,000 – ouch.

In summary, comprehension insurance is required if you finance the vehicle. You can raise the deductible to keep your payment low. You also might want to consider dropping this insurance if you car isn’t worth $3000 or if its 10 years old or older.

By: Stuart Simpson

Buying car insurance can be a very big expense on the household budget, especially if you have teenage drivers in the family. Add in the fact that every state has different liability requirements and things can get quite confusing pretty quick. It’s good to know what is required and what everything in a car insurance policy means. So let’s take a quick look at what an auto insurance policy really is.

Liability

This is what protects you in the event you cause an accident and hurt someone else, or damage property. Every state has there own liability requirements. Be sure to check what your individual state requires. Let’s take an example of a policy with a liability limit of 100,000/300,000. The first 100,000 is the limit that the policy will pay for any one persons medical expenses. The next figure, 300,000, is the limit the policy will pay for all medical expenses for anyone in the accident.

It is important to note that liability coverage will not pay for any injuries or damage to your own vehicle.

Property Damage

This is the total amount that your insurance policy will pay for property that you damage if it is determined that you caused the damage. Generally, most policies have $100,000 as a property damage limit. You can increase that if you wish to. With the price of cars and property these days, it may be a good idea to increase that limit up to $250,000.

Comprehensive

This insurance coverage pays for damages done to your car. This includes theft, storm damage, fire and vandalism. This coverage will have a deductible attached. The rate for this insurance coverage goes down as the deductible goes up. This coverage will also be required on any loan you may have on the vehicle.

Collision

Collision coverage will pay you for damages down to your own vehicle in the event an accident is deemed to be your fault. If your vehicle is totaled out in an accident the insurance company will pay you the actual cash value of your vehicle. This could be less in some cases than what your vehicle is worth. Collision coverage is also required by finance companies on any loan against your vehicle.

Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist

Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage will pay you in the event of an accident that is not your fault and the other party has either no insurance coverage, or not enough insurance. No matter what the law states, there will always be those who refuse to carry insurance. That makes having this insurance coverage vitally important.

Optional Coverages

There are many different optional auto insurance coverages that you can purchase on your auto policy. Some of these include emergency road service and rental car coverage. Both of these services can be a big help to you in the event of a claim.

By understanding the various auto insurance coverages you’ll be able to determine what exactly you need for your particular situation. In the long run this will help save you money and give you peace of mind.

By: Michael Russell

There are many types of auto insurance coverage that may or may not be included on your current policy. It is always a good idea to be informed when making a purchase and auto insurance is no exception. One way to be informed is by being familiar with the different types of auto insurance coverage that are available to you and by knowing which would be necessary for you to have and which would just be a waste of money.

Liability Coverage

There are two main types of liability insurance- property damage and bodily injury. Property damage liability coverage will cover damages affecting the other driver’s vehicle in an accident when you are at fault. This will not pay for damages to your vehicle.

Bodily injury liability coverage covers the medical expenses resulting of the other driver and their passengers in an accident where you are at fault.

Both of these types of coverage are required in most states. However, the amount of coverage differs from state to state, so be sure to find out how much liability coverage is required in your state.

Collision Coverage

Collision coverage covers damages affecting your car when you are in an accident. This will not be required by state law. However, it may be required by your lender if your car is being financed.

Comprehensive Coverage

Comprehensive coverage will pay for damages up to a certain dollar amount, for things unrelated to an accident such as fire, vandalism, theft, etc. Like collision coverage, this is not required by state laws, but this type of auto insurance may be required by your lender if your car is still being paid off.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

PIP covers expenses arising from injuries to you (the driver), your passengers, and pedestrians when in an accident.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Coverage

This type of insurance coverage is designed for covering your expenses when you are in an accident and the driver who is at fault does not have the proper insurance.

By: Laura Caldwell

Looking for full coverage auto insurance quotes? Want to get the most coverage for the least amount of money? Here’s how …

Full Coverage Auto Insurance

Full coverage auto insurance pays for medical expenses, repair costs, and liability law suit expenses when you’re involved in an automobile accident. It also pays for expenses if you’re hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver. Here are the various coverages you should have and how you can save money on them.

Liability Insurance

Liability insurance pays for claims made against you, plus your legal fees, if you injure or kill someone. It also pays for claims made against you when you damage someone else’s property.

Imagine what would happen if someone won, say, a $500,000 lawsuit against you? Would you be able to pay it? Probably not. That’s why liability insurance is so important.

If you don’t own a lot of personal property you may want to carry the minimum liability insurance your state requires. If you do own a lot, then you’ll want to increase it to cover your assets.

Personal Injury Protection Insurance

PIP pays medical expenses for you and your passengers when you have an accident. It also pays for you and your family’s medical expenses if you’re in another car.

If you have medical insurance you may want to skip this coverage. But if you don’t, or if you live in a high-accident area, then you should purchase it.

Collision and Comprehensive Insurance

Collision coverage pays for damage to your car from an accident no matter who was at fault. Comprehensive coverage pays for damage to you car from fire, theft, vandalism, storms, etc.

To save money on collision and comprehensive coverage you’ll want to get the highest deductible you can afford to pay. If you drive an older car that’s worth less than your annual premium plus your deductible, consider dropping these coverages.

Uninsured Motorist Insurance

Uninsured motorist insurance pays for medical expenses and property repairs caused by an uninsured, inderinsured, or hit-and-run driver. This is good coverage to carry, especially if you live in states that have a large number of uninsured drivers like Alabama, Arizona, California, Mississippi, and New Mexico.

How Get The Cheapest Full Coverage Auto Insurance

The best way to get the cheapest full coverage auto insurance is to get quotes from an auto insurance comparison site. Here you can compare quotes from different companies and choose the best policy with the lowest rate.

By: Brian Stevens

Car insurance is an important and a vital factor involved in order to keep your car running at the road. We know how it can counteract a disaster in case of an emergency. Car insurance is a necessary thing for drivers, not only because it is required by law in many states, but it is often the only protection you may have in case of an accident. Car accidents can have devastating and long lasting effects on you, your car, and your future depending on which side of the wheel you are on when the vehicles collide.

Automobile owners are constantly in search of an affordable auto insurance policy. And insurers are constantly providing them with new offers and options. Auto cheap insurance is available throughout the market. But the only way to find cheap car insurance is to show determination and of course a willingness to research it. Auto insurance is referred to the procedure of getting your automobile insured. This action is taken in view if any kind of accident or damage is brought to the automobile.

Online car insurance is a perfect option for shopping around various companies and car insurance quotes as far as you can avoid wasting time on numerous calls and automated questions and answers. Do choose at least three companies with trustworthy and time-proved reputation, fill in three various quotes and when you have them with offers concerning possible rates, analyse and compare these rates in order to take sensible decision. Online Shopping for car insurance requires you to provide all the necessary information. The nice thing about online shopping is that you can do it at home and at your convenience.

Accidents are very frequent these days because of rash driving, people breaking traffic rules, vandalism etc. When such situations arise there is human loss as well as property loss. Accidents, illness, injury, natural calamities, terrorist attacks, flight crashes have become part of everyday life today. Accidents happen every few minutes. It’s not worth the risk unless, again, your only other option is to not to have any insurance coverage at all.

Cheap no fault car insurance is not required by law, but some form of auto insurance is mandatory, and Christians are expected to respect the laws that the leaders of their country create. Cheap car insurance for students provides protection for vehicles kids drive on and off campus. The cheapest students’ car insurance is liability only and pays for damages that the driver is liable for in an accident. It is available; however it may not be the most appropriate cover for your specific situation. Most companies will give car insurance quotes, normally for free, so get on the phone and call up several companies for a comparison.

Car insurance is a mandatory type of insurance coverage in many states in the U.S. A car insurance policy protects both the auto and the insurance policy holder against theft or accident damage.

By: Tsuyoshi E.

So, you’re buying a used car, and are starting to look into some of the surrounding logistics, including car insurance. Insuring a used car requires a bit of a different decision making process than insuring a new car, but its not really that complicated. You just need to understand what the different components of car insurance are, and which ones you need to have, and which ones you might be able to do without as a used car owner.

First of all, though, let me state that yes, you absolutely need insurance for any car, new or used. It’s the law, and there is no getting around it. However, the most commonly required base level insurance is what is known as liability insurance. Liability insurance covers you against damages that you might be liable for in the event of an accident. For example, if you hit someone else and cause damage, you will be liable for this damage. With your insurance policy, the insurance company will be able to pay out to the required parties. This level of coverage is required, whether your car is new or used.

Things become a little fuzzier when you get to things like collision and comprehensive insurance. Collision insurance helps to repair or replace your car in the event of an accident. Comprehensive insurance covers your for things like weather damage, theft, vandalism, and more.

So, do you need these types of coverage for a used car? It really depends. If you’re driving a clunker, you can most likely do without these, since your premiums are likely to cost you much more than just buying another car would after a few years. However, if you’re driving a newer, few years old used car, these insurance policies can help protect your car against these issues.

In fact, it really all comes to your personal risk tolerance and preferences. As long as you have the insurance level required by law, whether or not you get extra coverage depends on how you feel about taking the risk of replacing the car yourself balanced with the expense of the insurance premium. Many people like to “self insure” by placing the money they would have spent on extra premiums into a special savings account to repair or replace the car in the event of an accident, theft, or other event.

So, I hope this gives you some idea of what you’re looking at in terms of choosing insurance for your used car. If you’re financing your used car, you’ll probably be required to fully insure the car, but otherwise, the decision is really up to you, as long as you meet the minimum legal requirements. Good luck in your decision making, and enjoy that money saving used car!

By: David C Wilson

Do you own a 1967 Chevy Camaro? Is your Pride and joy a 1931 Oakland? Or perhaps you own a 1940 Packard? Whatever the make or model of your collectors car, if it is over twenty-five years old then it is an antique car and for your own peace of mind should be covered by antique auto insurance.

Antique autos usually have thousands of dollars and many hours spent on their restoration and because of this and their comparative rarity, their value actually increases over time, which is the complete opposite to the normal everyday car you drive to work or the mall.

Although antique auto insurance can be relatively inexpensive when compared to ordinary car insurance, auto insurance companies do impose quite heavy conditions on the use and storage of your car in order to insure it.

The insured vehicle must be kept in a secure garage or lock-up when not being used in order to reduce the risk of vandalism or theft

The owner/driver of the vehicle usually must have at least ten years driving experience and a good driving record.

How much the antique car is to be driven has an important impact on the policy rates. The insurance companies expect that the car will only be used for club activities, parades and exhibitions and may impose a yearly mileage limit on the car. This limit can range between one and five thousand miles per year.

The car itself must be in good condition and well maintained in order to satisfy the policy requirements. The company may require a picture of the car and details of any restoration work carried out.

Whilst each state and company may offer different options to the policy, the most common options available are spare parts coverage to cover the cost of specialized spare parts, collision coverage to pay for damage to the insured vehicle sustained from collision with another vehicle or object and comprehensive coverage for the total loss of the insured vehicle.

As with any auto insurance it pays to get as many antique auto insurance quotes as possible in order to be able to make a comparison and get the best deal. There are specialized antique auto insurance companies but many of the larger companies that insure your everyday vehicle also offer such policies. It may be worthwhile checking this out as you should qualify for a multi vehicle discount.

By: Colin R Cherry

Auto insurance can be confusing for most consumers; there are so many different types of insurance and it can be difficult to determine the type of coverage you’re required to carry versus the types of coverage that you really should carry in order to protect yourself but that are not required.

When considering how much car insurance you should have, it is best to do some research and find out what type of insurance is required by the state in which you reside. Not all states require the same levels of insurance. Some states require more types of coverage than others and states also vary in terms of the amount of coverage that is required. So, be sure you know exactly what the minimums are in the state where you live.

You should also understand what is covered by the different types of insurance in order to understand whether you need insurance coverage above and beyond the minimum required by your state of residence.

Bodily injury liability covers injuries that you cause to someone else while driving your vehicle. Generally the rule of thumb for this type of coverage is to purchase more than is required by your state minimums in order to protect your private assets from a law suit in the event that you injure someone.

Medical payments or personal injury protection, commonly known as PIP covers the treatment of injuries for the driver and the passengers of the vehicle. Depending on the level of coverage, this type of policy will compensate lost wages as well as medical payments.

Collision covers any damage that occurs to your vehicle in the event of an accident, even if it is your fault. Of course, a deductible will apply. Your lender will generally require this type of coverage while you still owe on the vehicle.

Comprehensive coverage is for the loss of your vehicle due to damage by something other than a collision such as theft, fire, natural disaster, vandalism, etc. Again, your lender will probably require this coverage for a financed vehicle. Once your loan is paid off, it’s up to you whether you want to continue carrying comprehensive and collision coverage.

Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage can come in handy in the event that you are either involved in a hit and run or if you are hit by someone who does not have insurance or who is underinsured.

When considering how much insurance to take out, start with the amount that is required at a minimum by your state and then consider whether you’re required to take out any additional coverage due to lender requirements. Remember that while we all hope we won’t have a need for insurance, in the event that we do, it can be a financial lifesaver.

Finally, don’t forget to consider your options regarding deductibles. Raising your deductible can help you lower your premiums and that can make taking out additional insurance coverage more affordable. Just be sure you can reasonably afford the deductible in the event you need to use it.

By: Joseph Kenny
