Moving brings lots of new challenges, particularly if you’re moving to a new state. If you’re new to the state of New York, you need to know all the ins and outs on important laws and regulations, including finding out all about a New York car insurance quote. You might get a little sticker shock moving to New York as their rates are a bit higher than the national average. But, there are always ways to save money on your New York car insurance.

New York has a “no fault” law, which means that, in general, each party’s insurance pays for their injury claims in the event of an accident, regardless of who caused the accident. For this reason, all drivers in New York must carry Personal Injury Insurance (PIP) in the amount of at least $50,000. Your PIP insurance will cover medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of services, and offers a death benefit.

In addition, New York drivers must also carry liability insurance to pay for property damage and bodily injury to the other party in the event that you are at fault in an accident. The minimum on liability property damage insurance is $10,000. The minimum on bodily injury is $25,000 per person or $50,000 per accident. In addition, New York car insurance laws require that you carry a minimum $25,000/$50,000 in uninsured motorist coverage, too.

Overall, New York car insurance typically costs the average driver about $400 per year more than the national average. This is due to the combination of higher limits being required by law and the fact that drivers are required to carry liability insurance to pay for the other party along with PIP insurance to pay for their own medical expenses.

In addition to carrying the New York car insurance required by law, you may also want to consider adding other coverage, such as collision insurance. Though your PIP insurance covers your injuries in an accident, without collision, you’ll have no insurance coverage for your vehicle in the event of an accident that you cause. Collision will cover your vehicle’s repair or replacement. In addition many drivers consider adding comprehensive insurance. Comprehensive insurance covers your vehicle for damage caused by fire, natural elements, vandalism and theft. You may also want to add items such as rental car coverage and roadside assistance to your policy.

Because rates on a New York car insurance quote are fairly high, it’s very important to shop around so that you can ensure the best deal. Take the time to gather several quotes before you choose an insurance policy. Asking each company to quote the exact same coverage will help you compare your quotes more easily.

Once you’ve gathered your quotes, be certain to ask around about the company’s customer service before you make your final decision. Great rates are always enticing, but it’s just as important to have a car insurance company that will be responsive when you have to file a claim.

By: Barry H Brenner

Car insurance is something you cannot do without unless you do not have a car. It is a legal requirement that you cannot escape. Most people, in fact, prefer to have more than the basic required levels of insurance. They want to know they will not lose everything if something goes wrong.

Internet banking offers this option.

You can go to internet banking websites and click on the insurance tab to get information. You can also sign up online. Because you will be entering personal information, you will need to sign up with the institution first.

Then, you will give your name, address, and other pertinent information. You will be asked questions about your car: its make, model, condition, etc. You will then be rated according to your driving record, your car’s information, and your area. Internet banking makes it possible for you to do this from the comfort of your own home.

Another product offered by is travel insurance. Many international internet banking companies offer this. They offer coverage for medical expenses when you are out of your home country. You will not have to pay cancellation fees if you have this coverage. It will address such issues such as lost luggage and theft of travel documents.

Many banking operations provide life insurance. You can pay for term insurance with a simple automatic deduction from your account if you choose to do so. You will have to fill out an online information form about yourself.

It will include basic demographic facts about you such as age, race, and area of residence. Then, it will get to personal questions about your health. All this will be used to determine where the internet banking service will set your rate. They will get back to you in short order with an offer of a particular rate and policy.

Some internet banking companies go so far as offering health insurance. Health insurance is usually a costly business for anyone buying an individual policy. The company will set you up with this insurance for a competitive fee. However, do not expect it to be cheap. That is just the nature of the product.

Bonding insurance is a seldom offered, but important insurance for some banking customers. This is the insurance for the liability of people who are put in a position of trust of the money or valuables of others. For example, a locksmith must be bonded. A few internet banking operations make this insurance available.

CEO’s of internet banking institutions are constantly on the lookout for ways to make their services more appealing to the consumer. If offering a multitude of insurance options will help bring customers to their website, then that is what they will do.

By: Terry Detty

Auto insurance is another name for security of your vehicle. As the name suggests auto insurance is all about insuring one’s vehicle against all kinds of threats for instance theft, accident and other related dangers. The basic types of auto insurance coverage are -

1.	Bodily injury liability, which provides coverage for bodily injury claims from the people who might get injured in an accident with your vehicle.

2.	Property damage liability covers any property damages to third parties such as another person’s car you damaged or are responsible for.

3.	Medical expenses to the policy owner and other passengers in the policy owner’s car.

4.	Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage saves the negligent driver with or without insufficient insurance. In most states, this covers only bodily injury losses while in other cases property damage losses are also included. However it is quite important for everyone to get this coverage because it protects us from all expected as well as uninvited problems. For instance at some places an uninsured motorist caught driving with a suspended license in a car with a revoked registration goes to jail.

5.	Physical damage stands for damage to your car that can be through accident or any other means such as collision, storm etc. In this the collision coverage pays for the physical damage caused to a person’s vehicle through collision.

However prior to purchasing an auto insurance policy there are quite a few things, which should be borne in mind. For instance- shop for the best policy available, always ask for high deductibles, check the insurance of the car or any other vehicle prior to purchasing it, coverage of the car varies with its worth, the profile of the company through which you will buy the insurance and last but not the least go with a low cost auto insurance for instance at places such as Santa Clara, San Marino Mateo and Alameda counties low cost auto insurance has arrived at premium rate of $322 and $355 respectively.

Whereas the auto insurance rates are concerned the American Farm Bureau suggests that the insurance rates for a driver should be based on the risk of that the driver should be based on the risk that the driver confronts for having an accident or loss and since rural drivers in the rural areas are less prone to risks, they should not be asked to pay more for their auto insurance.

In California there is a debate over the auto insurance policy rates. While on the one hand due to the rules offered by California Department of Insurance the rates of auto insurance are expected to touch the sky, on the other hand the California Farm Bureau strongly opposes it and claims that the new rates presses rural residents to shell out more money in order to subsidize the cost for urban residents.

However nowadays auto insurance companies are troubled with excess of crime or fraud in this area. Lately in North Carolina thirteen people were arrested accused of staging motorcycle wrecks to collect insurance money. Many such cases are reported in other parts of the world. As a result the government of different countries is looking for ways and means to combat the crime situation.

By: Mansi Aggarwal

New York auto insurance policies are necessities for drivers in this state. It is very important to be cognizant of the importance of keeping your motor vehicle coverage current on a continuous basis. An updated policy is one of the most important aspects of owning a vehicle, especially in the state of New York.

The NY Department of Motor Vehicles features the Insurance Information and Enforcement System. This system, also known as IIES is designed to detect uninsured vehicles. The system is quite valuable to the state and it is also a very formidable obstacle against driving without insurance.

Those who have vehicles registered in the state of New York are required by law to report to the Department of Motor Vehicles if they have any important information about their car insurance policies. This includes cancellations, new policies and renewals for all policies.

Once the information is entered into the system’s database, the IIES tracks the insurance information for each registered vehicle. If there is a change, the IIES will be notified immediately. There is little chance of getting away with driving uninsured if you are a resident of the state of New York.

New York Auto Insurance Requirements

People who drive in this state are required to have three basic types of insurance on their vehicles’ policies. These three forms of coverage are designed to protect everyone involved in an accident, including the person who is at fault. Without this coverage, many drivers may find themselves in dire straights.

No-Fault, or Personal Injury Protection is a must in this state. This coverage pays for medical expenses and lost wages for people involved in accidents. Liability is designed to pay for damage done to property in the event of an accident. Uninsured Motorist protects you if you are involved in an accident with a person who does not have adequate insurance coverage.

With these three types of insurance, drivers have the peace of mind in knowing that they are driving legally and that they have some support if they are involved in an accident. However, it is always wise to seek more benefits in your New York auto insurance plan.

By: James Hyder

If you drive a car or ride as a passenger on Connecticut roadways, do you understand the insurance laws? Most people understand that car accidents happen frequently, but few take the time to understand key facts about Connecticut car accidents before they are involved in one.

1. Statute of Limitations

Connecticut has a two-year statute of limitations in car accident cases. That means you have two years after suffering any injury to pursue legal action against the driver or other parties involved in your accident. It also means that contacting a Connecticut car accident lawyer sooner rather than later is in your best interest. Two years may sound like a long time, but when you are busy with the process of recovery, it can pass by quickly and leave you without the means to recover financial compensation.

2. MedPay Coverage

MedPay coverage is a factor in some Connecticut auto insurance policies. MedPay coverage helps people pay for medical expenses that result from a car accident, typically covering between $1,000 and $5,000. What makes MedPay issues complex is that other health insurance policies, such as insurance offered by an employer (Blue Cross Blue Shield, for example) will not cover injuries sustained in a car accident until they receive confirmation that either no MedPay coverage existed — or that it has been used to the full extent. So even if you pay for company health insurance out of every paycheck, that insurance isn’t automatically relevant when your medical issues result from a car crash.

This is further complicated by the fact that MedPay covers injuries regardless of fault, so if you are injured as a passenger in someone else’s car, your insurance company may refuse to pay for your medical care until you’ve established the status of any MedPay coverage. And what if you receive MedPay benefits — but then file a personal injury claim against the person responsible for the accident? In some cases you may have to pay back the benefits.

3. Subrogation Provisions

Roughly 50% of Connecticut health insurance companies have subrogation provisions in their policies. These allow the health insurance companies to receive payment for medical expenses associated with your accident, if you receive a financial settlement. You may have planned to use your settlement to pay for future medical treatments, but your health insurance company has different interests in mind.

Protect your rights

If you or a loved one has been injured from a car accident in Connecticut, you have the right to make sure the responsible parties are held accountable. Understanding how insurance law plays a role in any accident claim is important, but it can be complex. Insurance companies are big businesses with their own legal representation; trying to handle them on your own can often backfire.

Contact an experienced Connecticut car accident lawyer for an evaluation of your case and helpful advice on your legal claim.

By: Deirdre Reedy

Due to the current unemployment rate, there are many people who drop the idea of auto insurance in order to save money. However, with so many drivers on the roads these days, it could be very dangerous to not have insurance. But, it is also important to know how much of insurance do you really need?

If you are one of the people who are greatly affected by the growing inflation, you might be interested in getting the minimum possible insurance coverage as required by the state laws. Even though the amount might not be enough to provide full protection to you, this is still a good start. However, your are recommended to get more than the lowest coverage unless you do not have any assets to protect.

You can check on the internet the minimum coverage required by each state. For instance, if you are living in Alabama, the minimum requirement is $25,000 for a physical injury of one person. There are some states that demand you to purchase auto insurance that also covers your medical expenses.

Whatever the requirement of the state law is, it is in your best interest to purchase higher coverage. For instance, if you accidentally injure somebody else and it is your fault, your minimum coverage might not be able to cover all the medical expenses. In that case, you will have to call up your attorney to take care of your assets. It is easy not to spend so much money on the insurance. However, you should not forget that at some point, this insurance becomes a life saver because in the case of an accident, your insurance will be ready to cover up. However, if you do not have a policy, you can say goodbye to your assets.

By: Danny Carlson

In different states there are also different laws and insurance requirements for people living in that state. There are states that are very strict with their laws like getting your car insured before you will be allowed to drive a car for yourself.

Your state government is only concerned for the safety of the people living in that state. Each state has a department of auto insurance this department deals with problems and questions for auto insurance policies. The states requirements of auto insurance vary from one another, they have different rules and regulations or it can be that their laws are almost the same with other sates.

This department helps in implementing and monitoring in with the people’s auto insurance. To know about other states department of auto insurance then here is a sample list of the state’s and their auto insurance laws.

Delaware auto insurance. This state requires their drivers to get a personal injury protection; this insurance pays the lost wages and the medical expenses that the passenger and the owner lost. Liability insurance is also mandatory in this state. If the owner wants to cancel his insurance he must then give up his license plate to the department of motor vehicles.

If the owner will not surrender the license plate then the department will audit it as insured but if they will find out that the owner is uninsured he’ll be given a penalty. In this state if you are found to be driving without the necessary insurance your driver’s license will be suspended for 6 month and you will pay a fine.

Nevada. They are required to get liability insurance plus the owner of the car must carry with them their proof that his car is insured under a car insurance company that is license by Nevada. This state also uses a verification program to identify uninsured motorists. If found out that a vehicle is not insured they will suspend the registration of that vehicle. The state may also suspend the driver’s license and let the owner pay the fine.

Georgia. This state’s mandatory law is to maintain continuous liability insurance coverage for the owners of cars. To be able to register your car you must have liability coverage and a proof that his car is insured for if not his car will not be registered.

That is why there are rules and laws for people to follow they are put there for a reason and a purpose. If you want a car then you should be prepared to shoulder the responsibility in having one and that is to get the necessary insurance your state requires.

By: Gordon H.

Massachusetts if the fourth most expensive state in the U.S. for car insurance and it is one of the most stringent when it comes to the minimum mandatory auto insurance cover requirements. These requirements are examined in more detail below.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
In an attempt to cut the number of lawsuits arising from auto accidents, Massachusetts became a no-fault state som time ago. This means that every driver must have a minimum of $8,000 PIP coverage to pay for the driver’s own medical expenses, vehicle damage and time lost from work.

Bodily Injury and Property Damage to Others
There is also a requirement to have coverage for bodily injury and property damage sustained by others in an accident caused by the insured driver. The minimum level for this coverage is $20,000 for medical expenses incurred by a single individual and $40,000 for the combined medical expenses of all the occupants of the car at the time of an accident and $5,000 for property damage.
If the actual medical expenses and/or property damage expenses exceed these figures then the driver at fault is liable to make up the shortfall. Whilst the medical expenses of the driver at fault are covered by PIP, damages to his vehicle or other property are not. Because of this it is recommended that drivers carry more than the minimum cover.

Un-insured/Under-Insured Driver Coverage
It is mandatory in Massachusetts for each driver to have un-insured/under-insured driver coverage. This will pay for any damages to either vehicle or person resulting from an accident involving insured and another motorist who is either un-insured or under insured and unable to pay the damages incurred or who leaves the scene of the accident.

The Massachusetts auto insurance industry is highly regulated which discourages companies out of state to do business there. This lack of competition tends to drive auto insurance rates up. State laws have been enacted which have brought some liberalization of the market and more are being introduced which it is hoped will attract out of state auto insurance companies and thus force rates down.

By: Colin R Cherry

Auto insurance protects you from being financially responsible for an accident, but you’re required to pay monthly premiums to keep the insurance. By law you must have car insurance if you want to drive on the road and without it you can be fined, lose your license, go to jail and also be sued depending on the seriousness of the accident you caused. Even if you’re pulled over without car insurance you can be fined though which means you must have and maintain auto insurance.

There are lots of companies that offer auto insurance and you’ll need to research which is the best option for your specific needs. Auto insurance has many different types of policies and coverage so you need to make sure when you buy your car insurance that the policy makes sense for you. One thing you want to make sure of is that the monthly premium will fit into your budget and also that you’re getting the right amount of coverage for your vehicle. Don’t get to much coverage but also don’t get too little coverage, there is a very fine line between the two and you’ll need to determine which is suitable for your vehicles.

Typically if you get into a car accident and you’re at fault then you need to put the claim through your insurance. This will mean that your insurance company will pay the damages to the vehicles and also any medical expenses that anyone faces, if any. Without car insurance it makes you liable for the damages and medical bills and this is where it gets very serious. You can be sent to jail for injuring someone in an accident without any insurance and you will most definitely be sued by the family. This will often result in you losing everything you own.

Car insurance isn’t a joking matter and is one of the most important insurance policies you need. It’s also one of the insurance policies that are mandatory to have while driving. Having car insurance is also necessary to have in case somebody hits your vehicle. If someone hits your vehicle and you don’t have insurance then they won’t be liable for paying any damages to you.

As you can tell having car insurance benefits you in a lot of ways and also gives you a feeling of safeness while out on the road. It’s always better to drive focused and not sub-cautiously have to be thinking about the fact you’re driving without insurance. Car insurance can be bought for very affordable monthly premiums and offer great coverage, you just need to do a bit research beforehand so that you can find the best deal. There is highly competitive competition in this industry and there are many companies fighting for your business. Decide on a budget savvy auto insurance policy and I guarantee you’ll be saved a lot of hassles and unnecessary fines. You’ll also be ensured that you won’t be financially accountable for any damages to people or vehicles as your insurance will cover you.

By: Brenda Williams
